Abstract

COVID-19 drastically changed education, the way of teaching both locally and globally, deepening the socioeconomic differences between students and being reflected in some cases in their academic performance. This systematic review synthesizes recent articles to see how socioeconomic factors influence student academic performance. In the studies reviewed there are several approaches such as family income, technology, city, among others, as well as cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, which further highlights the impact of these factors. The objective is to give different points of view of the articles and to be able to offer future recommendations and solutions to reduce these differences. When analyzing various articles, various factors were found that are related to academic performance such as country, technology, economy, among others. When comparing previous studies, we realize that academic performance is multifactorial and multidimensional, which is in accordance with what was done in this bibliographic review. 40 articles that were within the search parameters were studied. As seen, the student's academic performance depends on several factors beyond socioeconomic factors.
