This article analyzes the impact of mandatory mobile device use on the development of fine motor skills in preschool-aged children in educational institutions in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, during the 2024-2025 school year. The main objective was to determine the relationship between screen time and performance in fine motor skills tasks. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational approach was applied. Data collection instruments included surveys directed at parents and teachers, as well as a fine motor skills test based on the PDMS-2 protocol. The population consisted of children aged 3 to 6 years, and the sample included 50 students, 50 parents, and 10 teachers. Additionally, longitudinal observations were incorporated from the experience of a computer science teacher with 28 years of professional practice, who has documented recurrent deficiencies in fine motor skills associated with excessive technology use. Results reveal a significant negative correlation between the time spent on mobile devices and the development of fine motor skills. The study concludes the need to regulate and balance technology use in both school and family contexts.
