Assessing the academic performance of college students is an important indicator in determining the effectiveness of an academic program and its ability to prepare competitive students. The thesis work of students graduated from the Professional School of Mining Engineering and the Professional School of Civil Engineering was evaluated during the time series from 2012 to 2019. Of a total of 90 theses stored in the repository (library) of the Faculty of Mining, Civil and Environmental Engineering, a sample of 36 theses were selected, which were submitted to the anti-plagiarism software turnitin. Basic descriptive statistics and the similarity index were used for data analysis. It was observed that the highest values of plagiarism show the theses prepared at the School of Mining Engineering with an average of 74.3%, while for the School of Civil Engineering-Lircay an average of 33.7% was observed. On the other hand, according to the similarity index, 54.5% of the works (theses) of the Professional School on Engineering Civil-Lircay are in the range of (00% - 10%) presenting little evidence of plagiarism. However, the Professional School of Mining Engineering presented that 67.7% of the thesis works are in the range of 50 -74 (or ≥ 75), evidencing high levels of plagiarism. This study provides an important insight into academic performance at the two professional schools and serves as a basis for future research and making optimal improvement decisions.
